From the coast, we’ll go 20 kilometres deeper into Ubud, the cultural and spiritual capital of Bali. There are workshops, galleries, museums, temples and attractions at every turn, all surrounded by the lush greenery of the rainforest.

But the main thing is the atmosphere of this place, where it is as if a delicate balance of energies is constantly maintained, and one can, depending on one’s desire and mood, both recharge from the inexhaustible source of creativity and relax and allow oneself to be alone with oneself, enjoying life.

And then there’s the Puri Lukisan Museum, where Balinese visual arts range from classical 16th-century paintings in the style of Wayang shadow theatre and traditional wood carvings to contemporary works. Next to the museum is the ancient Pura Taman Saraswati temple and its lotus pond.
