Day 10. Bali Island sightseeing tour
At the end of the day
In the morning, we will start our sightseeing tour by car/minivan from the waterfalls, and it will take more than 2 hours to get to the first one. Banyumala is a high cascading double waterfall about 40 meters high. Two main streams exist all the time, the rest are filled depending on the amount of rain. The waterfall is beautiful not only for admiring pristine nature. It is very comfortable to swim in it, as the pool water warms up quite well. Bathing is an indescribable pleasure. You don't have to be able to swim — you can just splash around, wander or sit on rocks and shallow
waters. The second waterfall, tall Nungnung, is not so popular with tourists, so there are no crowds, annoying beggars and guides. On the way to it, you will see picturesque landscapes - rice fields and terraces, coffee and carnation plantations, whole fields of blooming marigolds that cover
the slopes of volcanoes like a carpet.Rice terraces
On the way between the waterfalls, we will visit the famous rice terraces. The terraces have convenient paths so you can easily walk along them while admiring the surrounding landscape. Since different varieties of rice ripen at different times, it often happens that young shoots are still springing up in one place, and harvesting is already actively underway in another. In addition, in the fields you will see small stone structures that resemble turrets. These are altars, or rather entire temples. They are built to worship the goddess Devi Shri, who gives these lands fertility. The Balinese believe that it gives
farmers a rich harvest.Snorkeling and beaches
Especially for snorkelers, we can take a detour to one of the island's remote beaches, where, while diving with a mask, you will see the remains of the American ship USS Liberty shallow at the bottom. After being completely sunk in 1963, the ship is 30 meters from the coast. The upper part is submerged in water for only 3-5 m, the lower part is submerged by 30 m. Over several decades, the hull was badly destroyed under water, but the animal world near the ship is very diverse
.In the evening, Bali's beaches and seaside bars are at your disposal.
Day 11.Ubud and beaches
Temple complexes
Today we are exploring Bali's cultural heritage in the vicinity of the famous village of Ubud. We will visit 2 temples with almost the same name: Gunung Kawi and Gunung Kawi Sembatu.
There are ten tombs on the Gunung Kawi site. They reach a height of 7-8 meters. Stone bas-reliefs in the form of burial towers are carved on the front side. At the bottom of each, there is a sign with an inscription to whom the burial was dedicated. Previously, all structures were located under a rocky canopy, but after the 1964 earthquake, it collapsed and exposed
them.Gunung Kawi Sebatu is a small but cozy temple complex with a large green area, hidden among many roads and rice terraces. There is also a huge pond with colorful koi that you can feed and cages with birds that you can not only watch, but also talk to them. This temple is always very quiet and the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. This is due to the fact that it is not very popular among tourists. But in vain...
Monkey Forest
Bali's Sacred Monkey Forest is a biosphere reserve located near Ubud. About 700 long-tailed macaques live here in their natural habitat
. Thereis a large square with a fountain in the central part of the forest. Here you can feed the monkeys and see them up close. From time to time, park staff feed the primates themselves: for this purpose, special cages have been installed here containing sweet potatoes (large sweet potatoes
).Beaches
In the evening, it's time for Bali's best beaches: Melasti, Gunung Payung or Nusa Dua, all close to each other.
